great beer, great ouseburn

Great Ouseburn Beer Festival 2012

will be held 6th October 2012 at the Great Ouseburn Village Hall

(Lightmire Lane, Great Ouseburn, York YO26 9RL)

The 2011 Great Ouseburn Beer Festival was a great success.

The 600 visitors enjoyed sampling the wide range of beers and the fantastic locally produced food. Real ale enthusiasts were able to sample the new beer, the Great Beer Great Ouseburn Bitter, which was created for the event by Rudgate Brewery. It is described as a mid coloured premium bitter bursting with malt and hop aromas.  The event raised over £5000 which was distributed between Henshaws, FOGOS, Ouseburn Cricket Club, Great Ouseburn Village Hall and St Mary's Church.

Henshaws Yorkshire

For nearly 40 years, Henshaws Yorkshire has helped hundreds of people affected by sight loss and other disabilities to develop the skills and confidence to lead lives that are as full, exciting and independent as possible.

Henshaws College, our specialist further education facility for students aged between 16 and 22, is one of only a handful of such centres in the whole country and caters for residential and day students with disabilities, and specialises in visual impairment. We support the student's transition into adult life, enabling them to increase their independence, confidence and self-esteem.

And Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, based in Knaresborough, offers excellent day-care services, providing training in eleven creative workshops. Our art makers sell their work in the centre's shop and many of our college students work at the centre learning valuable vocational skills.

Our Vision Support Service aims to ensure that people are able to live as independently and safely as possible and our specialist rehabilitation officers provide training and support people who use our services....

Ouseburn Cricket Club

Ouseburn Cricket Club was founded in the 1930's, and having moved around several grounds in the Ouseburn area found a permanent home at Great Ouseburn playing field in 1963. With the success and expansion of the club, we currently have three adult teams playing in the Nidderdale League. The 1st Team play in the top Division of the league, playing a very high standard of cricket. The aim of club is to give people the opportunity to enjoy cricket and to develop their potential, currently there are a number of juniors playing in the 1st Team who have come through the junior teams and have played at junior county level. The 2nd team play in the 3rd division. The 3rd Team was started a few seasons ago as a development team with the expressed aim of bridging the gap between junior and adult cricket. The team is made up of some of the more experienced seniors and juniors from 14-17 years.
